Privacy Policy

VoiceFrame is a Mac app that turns what you say into a formatted document. It is built to keep your words on your own machine. This page explains exactly what it touches, what leaves your Mac and what does not.
The short version. VoiceFrame has no account, no login and no server of ours. Your captures, audio and history are stored locally on your Mac. We do not collect, receive or sell your text or your recordings.
What VoiceFrame stores, and where
Everything the app produces stays in its own folder on your Mac:
- Captures — the transcript and the formatted document for each recording.
- Audio — the recording itself, so you can play a capture back.
- Settings — your chosen hotkey, default destination format, custom vocabulary and which optional features you have switched on.
You can delete any capture, or all of them, from the app at any time. Deleting the app removes its data with it. Nothing is backed up to us, because there is no us to back it up to.
Permissions the app asks for
Microphone and speech recognition — required
VoiceFrame needs the microphone to hear you and speech recognition to turn that audio into text. macOS shows both prompts the first time and you can revoke either at any point in System Settings → Privacy & Security. Without them the app cannot dictate, though pasting Markdown in still works.
Contacts — optional, off by default
If you switch on Match names from Contacts, VoiceFrame reads the names in your address book and uses them to correct spellings in the transcript, so the same person is not written three different ways. This comparison happens on your Mac. Contact data is never uploaded, and the permission is requested only at the moment you enable the feature.
Reminders — optional, off by default
If you switch on Send checkboxes to Reminders, checkbox lines from a capture can be written into a Reminders list you choose. VoiceFrame only writes reminders you explicitly send, and the permission is requested only at the moment you enable the feature.
Transcription and Apple
VoiceFrame transcribes through macOS Dictation rather than sending your audio to a service of ours. Depending on your macOS version, language and dictation settings, Apple may perform that recognition entirely on your device or may process audio on Apple servers. That behaviour is controlled by macOS, not by VoiceFrame. See Apple's Privacy Policy and your dictation settings for details.
Optional AI
AI restructuring is off by default. Cues, keyboard formatting, destination export, editing by line number and history all run locally with no model calls at all. If you choose to turn AI restructuring on, the text of that capture is sent through Glaze to its AI providers in order to return the restructured version, and it is subject to the Glaze Privacy Policy. Turning the feature off stops this entirely.
The Glaze runtime
VoiceFrame is built with Glaze and distributed through the Glaze Store. Apps built with Glaze incorporate the Glaze runtime, which may transmit anonymous usage metadata to Raycast through a signed-in Glaze installation. That metadata does not include your text, your prompts or your audio. This processing is described in the Glaze Privacy Policy. Permissions you grant to VoiceFrame are granted to VoiceFrame, not to Raycast.
This website
voiceframe.app is a static page. It sets no cookies, runs no advertising and no third-party trackers. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP address and user agent, for security and traffic measurement.
Your rights
Because VoiceFrame stores your data only on your own device and we do not receive it, there is no account for us to export or erase. You remain in full control: delete captures inside the app, revoke permissions in System Settings, or remove the app entirely. If you believe we hold personal data about you and want to exercise a right of access, rectification or erasure under the GDPR or UK GDPR, write to hello@voiceframe.app.
Children
VoiceFrame is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes will be noted on this page.
